Sniffing their hearts out! –  In AKC Scent Work, dogs search for cotton swabs treated with the essential oils of Birch, Anise, Clove, and Cypress. The swabs are hidden in a search area and the dog has to find them. Teamwork is necessary: when the dog finds the scent, he has to communicate to the handler, who calls it out to the judge.

The Judges: Mary Clarose, Tracy Hill, Nicole Wright

The Venue:   Cowlitz Co Event Center in Longview, the exact locations TBD

Classes Offered:
Interior, Exterior, Buried, and Containers
All Difficulty Levels (Novice A and B, Advanced, Excellent, Masters)

Scheduling: Scentwork classes will be throughout the day, and may overlap with NASDA. The NASDA event does hope to be able to accommodate conflicts

Training Required: The dogs are fantastic sniffers, but learning to pinpoint what you, the handler, is looking for specifically requires some practice. If in-person classes are hard to find, there are online options as well!
