Preregistration by June 1, 2023 is strongly recommended so that we can ensure seating and food to accommodate everyone.
In response to questions regarding SLEM (SpongiformLeukoEncephaloMyelopathy) the BTCA Health Committee is pleased to present the 2023 BTCA Health Seminar. “Everything You Want to Know About SLEM”. The seminar will feature Liz A. Hansen from the Animal Molecular Genetics Laboratory, University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine and Eddie Dzuik, Chief Operating Officer, Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Liz coordinates veterinary information and works closely with Dr. Gary Johnson. With a biology and chemistry background, she also was a veterinary illustrator with a lifetime of showing and breeding Standard Schnauzers. Eddie has devoted his career to encouraging canine health awareness and providing fellow breeders the tools to make more informed breeding decisions in order to breed healthier dogs. He has bred and owner handled Beagles for over 40 years and is also an AKC judge.
If you have any questions regarding SLEM, whether it is regarding genetics, how the test was developed, how the test is beneficial to the Border Terrier population and breeders, how the OFA processes and records results, how you can implement testing and interpret results, or any other OFA questions, please submit them in writing to darcy@dvmlawfirm.com by June 1, 2023 5:00 PM Pacific. We hope to answer all of your questions and want our speakers to be as prepared as possible to provide those answers and engage in meaningful discussion. The seminar will in part be tailored to address your questions and concerns.
